Making
a real humble start with only four girl students on its rolls in
the first batch in 1958, D.A.V. College for Girls, Yamuna Nagar is
poised on the threshold of a grand Golden Jubilee Year in the
session 2007-08. The long march forward in the gone by fifty years
has been an uphill journey indeed with many a hurdle to cross and
many an obstacle to overcome. But braving all the rebuffs and
challenges tenaciously, the institution has at long last
successfully completed five glorious decades in the service of the
community in general and for the cause of women upliftment in
particular. And now it can justifiably look forward to and reap a
rich harvest of rewards and achievements. Already this
ever-blossoming and fruit bearing tree of today, seeds of which
were shown 50 years ago by a few noble enthusiast to dispel
ignorance and dissipate knowledge is easily acknowledged as a
premier most educational institution of the area that continues to
infuse all that enters its portal with vital ideals of humanity.
D.A.V.
College for Girls as the name shows has deep foundations to its
culture and outlook. With its feet firmly rooted to the teachings
of the great sage Swami Dayanand Saraswati, aim of the college is
to impart education according to the principles of that great
pioneer of female education in modern India. Administrative and
Teaching Faculty through this long spell of time, have carefully
preserved the traditions of those who founded and nourished the
institution with a goal in view. And as a result the college has
all along rendered (and is even today rendering) a valuable
contribution to the cause of education by maintaining high
standards in the field of academic, mental, moral and physical
development of the students and propagating lofty Indian Ideals of
service and sacrifice.
Under
the direct control of the Central Body, D.A.V. College for Girls,
Yamuna Nagar is an integral part of DAV College Managing
Committee, New Delhi, the biggest private educational trust in the
country running more than 700 institutions in all. Leaving its
humble past far behind, this multi-faculty Post-Graduate College
with NAAC Ranking B++ today has a proud strength of 3000 students
on its rolls. It was the first college to be adjudged as the Best
Women College of Kurukshetra University, in the session 2002-03.
But the things do not stop there. The college refused to rest on
its old laurels only or bask in the sunshine of the old glory
only. Highly sensitive and responsive to the needs of the society
around, the college continues to prove its potential for
excellence with healthy spirit of competition in the fields of
academics, sports and cultural activities. Sensing the need of the
hour and closely keeping abreast with the times ahead, the college
has been regularly introducing courses in the emerging modern
areas. Last year only it enriched its educational programmes by
making an addition of B.Sc. in Bio-Technology and Bio-Informatics.
And with a booster dose of energy and enthusiasm in its veins in
this Golden Jubilee Year, the college plans to start on 2007-08 a
number of courses at graduate and post graduate level.
