The
college has two NSS units with more than 240 volunteers on rolls. They are
engaged in various activities to inculcate in them a feeling of social
responsibility and a positive attitude towards various social causes.
Annual 10-day camp and regular week-end camps are organized for the volunteers
in which they carry out various activities like teaching embroidery, pot
making, candle-making and other crafts to women in the adopted villages.
The
units arranged demonstration of ‘Smokeless Chulhas’ for the villagers with
the help of District Administration.
General
awareness regarding cleanliness and personal hygiene and family planning is
also created by NSS volunteers among villagers in one-day camps.
The
NSS volunteers are also encouraged to adopt illiterate adults for literacy. It
becomes a regular exercise with them following the slogan of ‘Each one-Teach
one’.
Seminars
on relevant and useful topics like AIDS and Blood-donation are also organized
regularly for NSS volunteers.
The
unit hopes to launch a campaign for Eye-donation in the
coming session.
The
Unit organised its first ever Blood donation Camp in August 2003. After 2003
Blood donation Camp has become a regular practice of the Unit.
